DNA Paternity Testing

DNA Paternity Testing Offers Conclusive Results.

There is no need to wonder about the paternity of someone; DNA paternity testing makes it easy and effective to determine parentage. DNA paternity testing not only provides results, but they are conclusive and have a 99.9 percent accuracy rate. DNA paternity testing is done quick and painless. Two swabs are rubbed on both sides of the cheeks collecting the loose cells. These cells are then studied for genetic material. Because this is such an easy test to perform, DNA paternity testing can be done on small infants. If choosing to determine the paternity of an unborn child, a small amount of the amniotic fluid needs to be collected, making this a much more dangerous procedure.

Once the samples are collected from both the father and his potential children, the genetic material is analyzed. DNA paternity testing looks for a DNA pattern that matches half that of the father, since 23 chromosomes of the father is what the child will carry. If this pattern is identified, the father has a 99.9 percent chance of being the biological father. If the pattern is not identified, the DNA paternity testing concludes by 100 percent that the man is not the biological father. A sample from the mother does not need to be collected, although doing so will only add to the accuracy of the DNA paternity testing.Determining paternity is not only essential for the sake of knowing, but also for legal rights, child support and custody.

It also allows for the father and his child to bond with one another. DNA paternity testing provides the desired results and puts closure to unwanted uncertainty. You can choose to have DNA paternity testing done in a laboratory or at home. Of course, laboratories are more expensive, but also more reliable. At-home testing has a lot of appeal however, as it is cheaper and allows for parents to test while in the comfort of their own home.
